Pam Hurley was asked to tailor a short writing seminar to address the specific client communication needs of our technical staff based on writing samples. Samples included a newsletter, business letters, email, and procedure documentation. She delivered a splendid presentation focusing on more effective communication styles and language. Her interactive and engaging delivery was extremely effective. Even our most accomplished authors learned a few techniques to more efficiently and effectively communicate the same material. Great value-added training.

Use active voice when it's important for the reader to know who or what completed the action; use passive when it's not important. "I blew up the lab" (I'm accepting responsibility") versus "The lab blew up" (It wasn't me and I don't know who did it).

Scientific Writing Classes

One of the key components of scientific writing is assessing the audience. The way you write and the terminology you use will vary depending on whether you're communicating with colleagues, students or those with no background in the topic. If you struggle to produce documents that have the right voice, we can help. Here at Hurley Write, Inc., we offer scientific writing classes that can be taken online or on-site.

We work with companies nationwide, providing them and their employees with scientific writing classes that make it easy for them to communicate their information easily to a variety of audiences. When you sign on for our on-site program, our experienced instructors will come to your location and offer workshops that are relevant to your company's needs. The workshops can vary in duration, and usually run between several days to several weeks.

Gaining Credibility Through Scientific Writing Classes

The on-site scientific writing classes are designed to promote discussion and get your team members actively involved. Through active participation in classroom discussions and writing exercises, they'll be able to better understand the material and apply it later on. You also have the option of adding a pre- and post-assessment to your workshops to help evaluate the skills and progress of each participant.

Regardless of the experience and skill level of your employees, if they can't write well, they'll lose credibility--and so will your company. It's important that each document your company produces is as well-written and as professional as possible. With our help, you can make it happen.
